Cosimo Marco Scarcelli (PhD in Social Sciences, 2013) is Associate Professor in the Department of Philosophy, Sociology, Pedagogy and Applied Psychology (FISPPA) at the University of Padua.
Her research interests are in digital media with a focus on: intimacy, gender, sexuality and youth cultures.
He is a member of numerous national and international research groups and has published scholarly essays including the books: Young People and the Smartpone (Palgrave, 2022, with P. Magaudda and M. Drusian), Fiovani e Social Network (Carocci, 2020. With Bissaca and Cerulo), Intimità digitali (FrancoAngeli, 2015), Sociologia dei New Media (UTET 2018, with R. Stella, C. Riva and M. Drusian). His publications include numerous articles and volume contributions nationally and internationally.
He is a member of the editorial board of the Journal of Gender Studies and Routledge’s Masculinity, Sex and Popular Culture series and Associate Editor of Wiley’s Encyclopaedia of Gender, Media & Communication. He also serves on the scientific and editorial boards of international and national journals and series.
From 2018 to 2020 he was chair of the Gender&Communication section of ECREA (European Communication Research and Education Association) for the period 2018-2021 after having served as vice-chair of the same section for the periods 2015-2016 and 2016-2018.
In addition to his academic activities, he is engaged in various educational work at public and private institutions on issues related to the relationship between digital media, gender and sexuality and the use of digital technologies by young people.
