Alessandra Vitale is a PhD student in Social Sciences at the FISPPA Department of the University of Padua and a member of the PaSTIS research group. She graduated from the University of Bologna in Journalism and Digital Media with a thesis on Science, Society and Public engagement, and she holds the position of managing editor at the journal Polis, which publishes studies and research on political and social phenomena in contemporary societies.
Her work focuses on Science and Technology Studies (STS) and the sociology of science, with particular attention to citizen participation in scientific research and technological innovation processes. Her research interests include environmental conflicts, social movements and technoscientific controversies, with a focus on forms of public engagement and on the dynamics of construction and negotiation of knowledge among social actors, institutions and scientific communities.
